IT Investments

Do not open e-mails whose sender seemed shady, they could contain deadly malware that can put your system at risk.2. Defragment your disk regularly. Defragmenting your disk once in every two or three months is a good way to ensure that your computer stays in top condition. Fragmentation happens when your computer\’s operating system fail to allocate enough contiguous space to store a complete file as a unit and instead places parts of it in gaps between other files.

OS, program updates - you get the picture. It would also be filled with command line instructions, written in code, of how certain programs are launched. So it would be a sort of a log book as well as a guide Windows can refer to whenever it needs. The problem with having everything in such a vulnerable singular location, is that it is an easy target for nefarious software as well as more prone to the normal wear and tear of computer use. With cash conservation being key in business, there is a need for all business owners and managers to evaluate their IT and ensure that they are getting the maximum return from their IT investments, that the tools are enabling workers to meet the needs of the business and the goals of the business and that overall, there is a quantifiable return on investment. The current economic climate means that reductions in capital spend are inevitable. If you\’re a business owner, you\’ll be sitting on your hands and taking things one day at a time. If the wrong files are deleted you could lose very valuable documents and have to actually hire someone to fix your system. Save yourself the time, and and a heck of a lot of money. It is the difference of having your computer last 3 years or 10 years, especially if you like to surf the web and find cool things, it is actually recommended to run a registry cleaner once a month to keep your hard drive clear of any \’polutant\’ files. The windows registry gathers and stores thousands of empty files, which clogs everything up and shortens the life substantially.

Bad Habits

This is a big sacrifice. So what? When you eat natural whole foods you will lose weight effortlessly. Your health will improve and you\’ll feel better. You\’ll have more energy and your mind will become clear and sharp. Big sacrifice, huh? At the same time, find some physical activity that you can do and will enjoy on a daily basis. If you want to exercise first thing in the morning, lay out your running clothes and tennis shoes the night before so they\’re the first thing you see when you wake up in the morning. 7.Chart your progress. Print out a calendar with 30 days on it and every day when you keep to your new habit mark it on the calendar. Follow comedian Jerry Seinfeld\’s advice: for each day he does his task of writing, he puts a big red X over that day, which-after a few days–creates a chain. He adds that you have to make sure not to break the chain.

The snag is that it doesn\’t end up being just one month, because the habit they were creating has been broken. The next month it\’s easier to spend that R100 on clothes, and after the third month, they\’re back to square one! So this month, I want to encourage you to think about some good habits you want to start implementing and some bad habits that you need to replace with good ones. If you currently have a bad habit at work of shuffling paper around and not dealing with it, start this month by being disciplined and either filing it, working on it or throwing it away.

These are bad habits just as letting the kids be destructive are. Ideally, parents can find a middle ground. There are also bad habits that affect the way people feel about themselves. If you are a know-it-all, a person might feel inferior to you at first. Eventually, though, it will get old and they will resent you. If you are tactless, you can hurt peoples\’ feelings without thinking. You do it just because you are in the habit of \’telling the truth.
